Benson Skills USA

About the Scholarship

SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. We help each student excel. A nonprofit national education association, SkillsUSA serves middle-school, high-school and college/postsecondary students preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service (including health) occupations.

Mission Statement: SkillsUSA empowers its members to become world-class workers, leaders and responsible American citizens. We improve the quality of our nation’s future skilled workforce through the development of SkillsUSA Framework skills that include personal, workplace and technical skills grounded in academics. Our vision is to produce the most highly skilled workforce in the world, providing every member the opportunity for career success.

Skills USA LogoAt Benson High School, we work within a wall-to-wall academy where students are encouraged to take courses that offer access to information, skills, and beyond high school connections and opportunities in their field of interest.  Each academy at Benson also builds in a CTSO (Career and Technical Student Organization) and is nationally recognized for our Design Academy. That organization is SkillsUSA.

One of the goals for SkillsUSA is to create post-secondary opportunities for continued education and/or straight into the work force options.  This scholarship will be used to provide funds for a Benson graduating senior who is looking to continue his or her education.

Regardless of whether students are headed for college or the workforce, this type of education will help them prepare for the future. In fact, college-bound students can get job experiences to help them define their career plans, identify an appropriate course of study and help pay for tuition.

Just think of the benefits your child will receive by gaining not only a solid foundation in academics, but also hands-on, technical experience and know-how.
