Prairie Wind’s Lindsay Hueftle’s goal as an OPS art teacher is to give her students a deeper glimpse into the art world by providing a wider range of mediums for them to use. The OPS art curriculum includes a main theme for each grade level. She hopes to further develop those themes using textiles. Exposing students to different textiles such as cloth, fibers, and filaments can encourage greater engagement in the classroom. By creating projects with textiles in addition to other art media, students will gain greater interest through sensory learning, will be encouraged to think creatively, and will also gain real-life skills.

Not only do these projects teach art skills but the students will also learn reading, science, and social studies connections as well as improve their fine motor skills across all levels for many years and projects to come.

Lindsay is asking for your help to purchase additional art supplies for her classroom.
