Megan Moderow, second grade teacher at Dundee Elementary, is asking for a class subscription to Scholastic’s Storyworks Jr. magazine. Storyworks Jr. is a monthly magazine packed with engaging material for students – this ranges from fiction to non-fiction, poetry to reader’s theater scripts. Each magazine is 32 pages long and students would have the opportunity to take their magazine home at the end of each month. This would ensure that students have access to high-quality text options at home.
The OPS Action Plan places an emphasis on rigorous and differentiated curriculum for students. A subscription to Storyworks Jr. would allow me to enhance our reading curriculum, both in whole group and small group settings. Students will also have the opportunity to engage with Storyworks Jr. through iPads and computers, which can spark engagement in students.
